U.S. Veterans Hospice Committee Executive Director Gerald Johnson recently met with Congressman Walter Jones (R-NC-3) to discuss the troubling problem of terminally ill homeless veterans, and their urgent need for proper end-of-life care.
“Congressman Jones was aware of the issue due to the strong military presence in North Carolina’s third Congressional district,” explains Executive Director Gerald Johnson. “The Committee’s ultimate goal is to get the Department of Veterans Affairs to create a network of hospice facilities dedicated solely to terminally ill homeless veterans, and Congressman Jones could not have been more supportive,” continued Johnson. “We are now entering the critical stage of crafting legislation that Members on both sides of the aisle can agree on to ensure passage.”
The U.S. Veterans Hospice Committee would like to publicly thank Congressman Jones for his support on this issue. Without a voice on Capitol Hill, this issue will assuredly continue to fall on deaf ears. Thanks must also be given to our loyal members and supporters who are the true heroes in this effort. Without their constant support this mission would be virtually impossible to undertake. Thank you!
